• Studio Update - The framing is up!

The skeleton of my new studio

I just got home from my grandparents' house to see that the framing for the walls and the roof of the new studio are all up! This is very exciting! It is so roomy inside... especially in comparison to where we're working now! :) I can't wait to see it with the sheet rock up! Time to start think about what colors to paint the interior.. ok, maybe a bit early, but I'm going to have to make up my mind. Any suggestions?

This Christmas snuck up on me... I wasn't in this year's Christmas drama at my church, so I didn't have the weekly Christmas reminder. I didn't feel like shopping so I found myself scrambling to buy gifts like the idiots I made fun of last year. Thankfully I was able to get great gifts for everyone on my list... except for by brother who has the annoying habit of popping in at the mall while I'm trying to pick out something for him. His present will be a January surprise.

Every year I am blessed with two Christmas dinners, one with my mom's parents and one with my dad's. After dinner we open presents and gorge ourselves on desserts. My poison of choice is peach pie... but of course I have to sample just about everything else. Topics that dominated the Christmas conversation this year ranged from Western District politics to WWII history to... could you please pass the mashed potatoes and gravy. :)

This year I didn't know what to say when asked what I wanted for Christmas. Most of the things on my "wish list" are too expensive or has to be bought on the internet. That means that I mostly got envelopes with money or gift cards (hey, I'm not complaining) and a sweaters. I'm going to pool all my gift money and get a new lens for my camera. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

**For Christmas my grandpa needs high-speed internet! Dial-up is sooo painful and posting blogs from my cell is not practical. I hope I'm not taking up too much of my grandpa's neighbor's wireless internet to post this blog. haha

  • "The Return of the Christmas Kid" Flier

Here's a flier I designed for my church's Christmas drama, "The Return of the Christmas Kid".

This year all four nights were packed out... I'd like to think it was because of my flyer, but probably not. :)

  • My New Studio Is Being BUILT! RIGHT NOW!

Bro. Manuel Banuelos, and Adam Banuelos
working on the framing for the new studio

I am sooo stinkin' excited that my new studio is being built! It's supposed to be done by the end of January. The new studio will be nearly twice the size of our old one, will have TWO vocal booths instead of one, and will have it's own bathroom. The bathroom is, or course, my mom's favorite feature - no more clients marching through the house to use the restroom and easy access from the pool. :) The recording studio will also double as a photo studio... as soon as I get some gear, and also as a guest room when needed. I CAN'T WAIT! :) It's going to be awesome! I'll post updates soon!

  • My Nashville Recording Trip

This last week I was able to go to Nashville, TN and watch the Way Quartet record their first CD. Well they used to be called he WAY Quartet... Now their name is freeWAY. Their producer suggested they change their name to something more catchy. I like it. :-) The whole trip was a complete blast! I flew out of Fresno at 6:30 Monday morning BY MYSELF which was a little nerve-wracking at first, but it was pretty easy. I spent most of Monday on a plane. Quad Studio - Studio A was the first studio we went to. It had the most GIGANTIC mixing board i have ever seen (click the link above)! Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Bebe and Cece Winans, Garth Brooks, and many other famous artist have recorded there and had gold and platinum records on the walls! There I met Rick the producer. Rick was a lot of fun. :-) I was also able to meet his son Micah (the drummer for the Crab Family), Kelly the engineer, and many of the incredible musicians. The music turned out AWESOME! :-)
The rest of the week was spent with in Daywind Studio A. The Daywind studio was so cool! :) I loved the design of the waiting area! :) It was great to watch the engineer and the vocal producer (Marty Funderburk) team up. I can't wait for the final product!
Later the guys had a photoshoot with Kim Lancaster. She is amazing! Here's one of the photos she took:

There were tons more too! :)

Saturday morning I thought that waking up at 4:00am would be the worst part of my day. Boy was I wrong. lol First, on the way to the airport I got sick from some bad BBQ I ate the night before. Said BBQ decided it didn't want to fly home with me and made it's exit in a flower bed....

Next I got stuck in Cincinnati for two hours because of the snow... which caused me to miss my Las Vegas to Fresno flight... I was stuck in the Las Vegas airport for at least three hours and it was incredibly boring...once I finally got to Fresno, I found out that they had lost my luggage. :-I I was just glad to get home after all of that! lol
